| We are already familiar with the descent to Morteratsch. One variation would be to continue over the glacier to the Diavolezza cable car station and then take the cable car down to the valley. From Morteratsch, the train can be taken to Lagalb. (Or on foot, following a path that offers varied scenery.) The start of the path to Val Minor starts next to the Lagalb cable car station. Pass Lej Minor at 2,361 metres and go further to a pass-like saddle. Now the path leads back to the Bernina pass road. We, however, descend across trackless ground to the Plan dali Cüni and pick up another path about 250 metres southeast which takes us to the customs post on the road to Livigno. Another path takes us over Bünet to La Rösa. We follow the road for a short distance, taking the bridge across the stream in La Rösa. Past rounded, glacier-smoothed rocks on the Sentiero storico we ascend via Lagüzzon over grassy slopes and follow the path into a dense wood. Soon we reach the charming Val di Campo. Walking again on the track, we reach the Rifugio Saoseo at 1,985 metres. |
